Inspiration from the the oddest places
I shouldn’t say it like that, more that inspiration comes when you least expect it.
I have four kids. Four amazing kids that bring joy and sadness both to a greater degree than I originally anticipated. Watching them learn, grow, experience things for the first time - it’s all so wonderful. I know a handful of couples that don’t want kids, many reasons are given, but none that - knowing what I know now - would have kept me from having kids.
True sacrifice of both time and finances, for the benefit that I can’t possibly put into words. Ironic, I know, being an aspiring writer. It’s not that I can’t describe many aspects, details, or events. But even if I can bring tears to the eyes of every reader, make them laugh from the very depth of their soul - the feeling is only a shadow of truly experiencing those aspects, details, or events first hand with your own son or daughter.
If you are a parent, a good parent, you know exactly what I am talking about. You can see the moments in your head as if they were playing out for the first time. You may be crying, you may be laughing, but you miss those moments. You capture them in your brain and want to relive that moment over and over.
Those four little ones are my inspiration. I know what you are thinking. “They inspire you to do great things, they are the ladder from which you climb higher and higher.” And, to that I say… well not really. I mean, I want to do great things to make the world they grow up in better, that the work I do is great and many people will love and appreciate it. But that is not what I mean when I say “inspiration.”
They do things, say things, and act out things that make me rush to my computer, saying, “I gotta’ write that down.”
And because of them, I have a book… well a book that I am shopping around, but you get the point.
Don’t ignore those little inspirations.
